I was born in the spring of 1976 in the great southwestern town of Albuquerque. Reared by my loving parents Edward and Deanna Gottschling, who instilled a midwestern work ethic into my psyche which I still carry with me to this day. 

During the summer break of my 13th year, I disassembled and successfully reassembled my parents lawnmower, which led to the unnecessary dismantling and reassembled several more perfectly fine household appliances and pieces of domestic urban machinery.

Fast forward to young adulthood, in March of 2000, I found employment at a cabinet shop where I was able to transform my skills from "tinkering without a purpose" into creating projects from scratch . Unbeknownst to me, working in that shop was paving the way for my life's calling of becoming a custom woodworker, and after several years of working alongside some incredibly talented woodworkers, I took that midwestern work ethic, every tool I had managed to acquire, all of my savings, and made the leap of faith to open my very own custom wood shop. In the fall of 2008, Gottschling Wood Design was officially open for business.
